Uber ups its game

Uber makes it possible for some drivers to be paid instantly

Uber took a big step toward making life easier for its drivers (and being more competitive with other car services) this month in a partnership with pre-paid debit card company Green Dot. Prior to now, largely lower-to-middle class Uber drivers only received a paycheck once every week. Now drivers have the option to send earnings directly to a new Green Dot account for immediate access. Other competitive instant pay programs charge small fees per day or per deposit but Green Dot’s is completely free, provided the account is accessed at least once every six months. Green Dot CEO Steve Streit said the company is eager to be part of the growing on-demand economy and is looking into other similar partnerships. (Skift, 03.17.16)
