Microsoft to buy LinkedIn for $26.2 billion, pursuing "productivity" industry

In an effort to compete with powerhouse companies like Google and Amazon, Microsoft will buy the professional networking site LinkedIn later this year. The $26.2 billion agreement is the biggest ever for Microsoft, but both company’s boards of director agreed unanimously. Microsoft envisions that the links created between Office 365 services and LinkedIn will break down barriers between personal projects and external sources that could be helpful. So if you’re working on a report, you may see a related article come through your LinkedIn feed, or a potential connection with experience in the subject may be suggested to you.
