Coloring Book Comeback

The latest hotel amenity: Adult coloring books

This new addition to hotel services may sound surprising at first, but the popularity of adult coloring books is definitely growing. Colored pencil sales grew by 26% in 2015, and there is even a National Coloring Book Day now (August 2nd). Hotels are counting on these coloring books to help their guests de-stress, as well as to promote mindfulness and creativity. Four Seasons Austin has gone a step further to offer “Inspiration Stations” to visiting groups and conferences, where coloring pages with mandalas offer a relaxing and creativity-inducing break from meetings. Yotel New York added their own flavor to the idea as well, selling a coloring book filled with New York inspired images created by artist Ian Slarsky. (USA Today, 07.20.2016)
