Millennials Can’t Afford a Vacation

More than half of Millennials did not go on a vacation in the past year and the primary reason why is simple—taking a vacation is too expensive. In fact, 10% are still paying off their last trip. The net worth of this demographic averages only $8,000 (-34% compared to 1996), which makes travel seem impossible, despite the desire.

While this news sounds quite bleak, a new trend has emerged because of it: micro-cations. Micro-cations or short trips (usually less than four days) have become increasingly popular as they are a quicker, cheaper and less stressful alternative to the traditional vacation.
