Travel Employment Falls in July

More than 12,000 jobs were created in the travel industry in the month of June, but the industry said goodbye to 2,500 of those jobs just the following month. While this decline was inconsistent with national unemployment rates (stagnant at 3.7%), it is in line with the Travel Trends Index. As travel typically slows down the second half of the year—this job cut should be of little concern. However, if the declines continue over the next few months, this could be indicative of a larger trend. (U.S. Travel Association, 08.02.19)
