In its third year of Skift Research’s U.S. Affluent Traveler Survey, the affluent traveler is monitored and their trends are evaluated. Here are the main findings for 2019:
· Although most affluent travelers can afford a travel agent, most prefer not to use one. 76% of these travelers agree that they enjoy the trip planning process, using social media as their main inspiration.
· Longer trips, wellness trips and international trips are becoming more appealing. Trips that last longer than six nights have increased from 29% in 2017 to 55% in 2019, while weekend getaways declined from 36% in 2017 to 28% in 2019.
· Travelers with kids tend to stay in more expensive hotels and alternative accommodations. Of those staying in luxury hotels, those with kids make up a 14% larger share than those who do not have kids. (Skift, 05.07.19)
