June Travel Numbers & New Projections

New numbers from the U.S. Travel Association show travel to and within the U.S. grew 4% year-over-year in June. Buoyed by near-historic highs in consumer confidence, domestic travel is expected to increase by 2.6% in the next six months. Despite the improvement, travel economists note that international inbound travel to the U.S. is not keeping pace with the global long-haul travel boom. International inbound travel is expected to continue to grow at a rate of 2.2%, well below the 6% projected increase for long-haul travel worldwide. And more trouble may be looming, as trade tensions and oil prices rise. (U.S. Travel Association, 8.7.18)
