USA Today Uses AR Tech to Lure New Readers

USA Today Network is set to roll out a new augmented reality app at the end of this month. The app, called 321 Launch, will use AR tech to show 30 rocket launches slated for Cape Canaveral, Florida, this year. The Network snagged a team of ex-video game developers to create the app and content. This app is another example of a broader trend to use technology to reach a younger audience that doesn't consume news the way people their age did even a few years ago. The New York Times, for example, started a free podcast called “The Daily” to try to reach a new generation of subscribers. (AdAge, 3.19.18)
