Amazon Go Concept

Amazon recently opened a new store concept with no cashiers. Shoppers enter by scanning the Amazon Go smartphone app at a turnstile, and items are added to the customer’s virtual cart when an item is pulled off the shelf. The store, which sells limited items like chips and ready-to-eat salads, uses computer vision, machine learning algorithms and sensors to figure out what people are grabbing off its store shelves. Customers must have a smartphone and a credit or debit card to be charged in order to shop there. (AP, 1.22.18)
