Mall Makeovers

America’s malls are becoming models of reinvention—adding attractions to become destinations for activities. Many malls already offered movie theaters and restaurants, but now you can find Wax Museums, aquariums, discovery centers and more popping up at malls across the country. This innovation comes after a dramatic rise in online fashion sales, predicted to double within fifteen years. Flagship store closures from brands like JCPenney, Macy’s and Sears have had a trickle-down effect causing smaller specialty stores to fail—leaving empty spaces and room for new ideas.
