Digital Eclipses TV in Ad Revenue

The Interactive Advertising Bureau recently reported that digital ad revenue surpassed TV ad revenue for the first time. The shift came after digital ad revenue increased 22% from 2015 to 2016—up from $59.6 billion to $72.5 billion. This surge was just enough to edge out TV’s 2016 reported ad revenue of $71.3 billion. Social media advertising revenue is also on the rise, up nearly 49% from 2015 to $16.3 billion in 2016—but clearly still has a way to go to reach TV and digital levels.  (AdAge, 4.26.17)
