Holiday Sales Rebound

Spending Predicted to Post Largest Growth Since 2005

According to research firm Customer Growth Partners, holiday spending will likely see the biggest growth in more than a decade, posting an estimated 4.9% gain from 2015 to $637 billion. The firm had previously predicted a 4.1% increase, as the October and mid-November spending was slow due to warm weather and election jitters. Online sales have also boasted an increase, up more than one point to an estimated +15%. These spending gains are attributed to low unemployment, low fuel prices and increased disposable income. The post-Christmas week is shaping up strong as retailers lure holiday shoppers in with a new selection of full-priced merchandise. (Ad Age, 12.28.16)
