How Disney Is Turning Epcot Around

Disney World’s Epcot was beginning to become the park of yesterday, but Disney decided that instead of simply leaning on its legacy, it needed to start taking the steps to make it the park of tomorrow.

When planning a trip to Disney World, Epcot could easily be checked off the list of parks to visit, as not much substance had been added to the park in more than a decade. However, this is how Disney is making this park a hot commodity.

  • From two lands to four. While Epcot started as two parks smashed together into one, an evolution into four components was announced in 2019—World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature and World Showcase.
  • Two new rides. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventures, a ride for all ages, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, a thrill ride, will provide some ‘new’ for everyone.
  • New places to eat. While the park was not short on dining experiences to begin with, more are being added, including Space 220, a dining experience that raises guests up in an elevator 220 miles above Florida.
  • New finale. Epcot is working on a new nighttime show that involves music and fireworks bigger and better than ever.

As Walt Disney said years ago, Epcot is and always will be in a “state of becoming.” It’s a park that was designed to change with the times, and Disney is sure that remains true to this day. (The Points Guy, 10.07.21)
